Your First Visit & What to Expect
When you arrive at Smith Custom Dentistry, you will be greeted by our friendly front office staff. They will give your medical and dental information to Dr. Smith for review, in addition to taking any necessary X-rays. After we have collected this important information, Dr. Smith will do a thorough exam of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints. During this exam, you will learn about the condition of your teeth and any dental restorations already present. Dr. Smith will listen to your concerns, discuss general treatment options available to you, and his recommendations.
Dr. Smith feels strongly that every patient should be aware of their dental situation, educated on the various treatment options, and should be a part of the decision-making process in their treatment. This experience is meant to be purely educational. Dr. Smith will use visual aids and take the time to explain different types of procedures and restorations, their pros and cons, and how they relate to your dental situation. In straightforward cases, we can often give you a treatment plan at the end of this appointment; for more involved or complex treatments, Dr. Smith will usually get models to review, in addition to the other information we’ve gathered at this first visit, and have you back for a treatment planning discussion. Once you and Dr. Smith finalize a plan, we will start the process to get you back smiling again!
