While dental exams are not treatments for specific oral problems, they allow our dentist to spot any concerns early on, prevent the spread of dental conditions, and overall help you maintain good oral health. Some of the dental conditions that can be identified during your exam include:
Gum disease is a progressive disease that can be hard to spot in its early stages, which is why X-rays and dental exams are important to catch and treat gum disease early on. Receding, bleeding, or tender gums and loose teeth are signs of advanced gum disease.
Our dentist may be able to spot signs of oral cancer, such as lesions, growths, and other abnormalities. Oral cancer can show signs on the tongue, gums, tonsils, lips, and throat. Inform your dentist if you spot any irregularities in these areas.
